Two Years, Ten Bookish Mommas & One Hell of a Night ✨

September Book Club Recap — Book Fetish Momma

Two years.

Two years of books, cocktails, questionable opinions about fictional men, amazing food, inside jokes, and friendships that have grown into something so much bigger than a book club.

When we started Book Fetish Momma, we were a humble four. Fast-forward two years, and our little group has grown to 10 amazing women. What started as a shared love of reading has turned into a true sisterhood, and I honestly couldn’t imagine celebrating this milestone with anyone else. ❤️

And, of course, our two-year anniversary had to be celebrated in true Book Fetish Momma fashion. ✨

🥂 Sparkles, Sushi & Martinis

For our anniversary, there was only one appropriate dress code: SPARKLES! And the girls absolutely understood the assignment.

A circle of sparkly heels, sequin skirts, and glittering dresses from the anniversary dress code

We enjoyed a gorgeous sushi spread, a sparkly raspberry cake topped with a number 2 candle, and, of course, our signature Book Fetish Momma cocktail—the lychee martini. 🍸✨

One of our amazing bakers also made homemade number-two cookies completely from scratch, and let me tell you… they were absolutely delicious!

Basically, if it sparkled, glittered, tasted amazing, or came in a martini glass, we were here for it.

📖 This Month’s Read: Verity

Since the movie adaptation is coming out, we decided to read Verity by Colleen Hoover.

And apparently, nothing brings a book club together quite like discussing a book that leaves everyone questioning their life choices. 😂

Our overall rating landed between 4.5 and 5 stars, although we definitely had some differing opinions. One of our book club sisters did not enjoy the book at all, while the rest of us rated it much higher.

And honestly, that’s one of my favorite things about this group: we don’t have to agree.

Everyone gets to have their own opinion, defend their rating, passionately debate their favorite characters, and still leave the table laughing together. That’s what makes our discussions so much fun.

🎥 Production Manager: 1 | Book Club Mommas: 0

Of course, no Book Fetish Momma meeting would be complete without creating some fun content for our social media page.

We spent part of the evening with the ring light, curating and filming content—and it’s always a hoot and a half.

Our production manager was yelling at everyone, we were trying to follow directions, and eventually we all just fell in line and listened. 😂

In hindsight, we’ve decided there is probably one very important production rule we need to establish:

Shoot the content BEFORE 2–3 lychee martinis.

Because after that point?

Utter. Chaos.

But hey… we’re living, right? 🍸😂

🎲 The Forehead Game

We wrapped up the evening with a “Can You Guess the Number on My Forehead?” game, and it was absolutely hysterical.

There were questionable guesses, even more questionable logic, and a whole lot of laughing. Basically, the perfect way to end a Book Fetish Momma night.

📚 And Then We Picked Our Next Book…

We also voted on our next book club selection.

Originally, we selected The Things We Do for Love by Kristin Hannah, but then we realized something very important:

IT’S OCTOBER.

Which means Halloween.
Which means witches.
Which means we absolutely needed a spooky book club!

So… The Witch by Freida McFadden it is! 🧙‍♀️📖

We’ve also started choosing one to three books across different genres from time to time and allowing everyone to either read them all or select the one that speaks to them.

I really love this approach because every reader is different. Some love thrillers, some love romance, some want something light, and some want to be completely traumatized by a book. 😂

Giving everyone options keeps the club inclusive, adds variety, and makes sure there’s something for everyone.

🏆 The Book Fetish Momma Awards

Because apparently we hadn’t done enough talking about books, we also held our very own Book Fetish Momma Awards!

We voted on categories including:

📕 Best Cover
❤️ Best Book Boyfriend
🤯 Best Plot Twist
✨ Honorable Mention
🎧 Best Audiobook
👑 Best Main Character
🔥 Best Spicy Scene

Then each girl took a turn reading the results aloud.

Handwritten Book Fetish Momma Awards result cards, including Best Plot Twist for His & Hers, Best Villain for Zade from Haunting Adeline, Best Audiobook for Priest, and Best Main Character for Lark from Leather & Lark

Let’s just say… some of those answers definitely sparked conversations. 😂

🥤 A Little Crafting to Finish the Night

We also got crafty and created our own cute glass and mason jar cups, decorated with some of our favorite bookish stickers.

Kraft paper award bags labeled Best Cover and Best Book Boyfriend, next to glass cups, markers, and bookish stickers ready for crafting

Because apparently, we need customized drinking vessels to accompany our excessive reading and lychee martini consumption.

Honestly? I support it. 😂

❤️ A Special Shoutout to One of Our OGs

We want to give a very special shoutout to one of our Book Fetish Momma OGs, who sadly couldn’t join us for our two-year celebration.

She’s dealing with some medical challenges right now, and we are all praying for a speedy recovery because she is truly one of the most amazing humans God ever created. ❤️

We missed her more than words can say and felt her absence throughout the night. We want her to know that she is so deeply loved, thought about, and supported by all of us.

We’re sending her all the love, strength, positive energy, and prayers in the world and cannot wait until our girl is back with us where she belongs. 🥰📚❤️

We love you, we miss you, and we’re saving your seat. 💕

❤️ More Than a Book Club

When I look back at these past two years, I’m reminded that this was never really just about books.

Yes, we read the books.

Yes, we rate the books.

Yes, we occasionally judge fictional characters like they’re actual people. 😂

But somewhere along the way, these women became my people.

We’ve celebrated together, laughed until we cried, supported one another, created memories, shared life, and built friendships that extend far beyond the pages of a book.

We started as four women who loved to read.

Now we’re 10 Book Fetish Momma who love to read, laugh, drink lychee martinis, make ridiculous content, and most importantly, love and support each other.

Two years down. ❤️

Here’s to many more books, many more cocktails, many more chaotic content nights, and a whole lot more memories with my Book Fetish Momma sisters turned best friends.

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Book Fetish Momma! 🥂📚✨

Book Fetish Momma is officially a toddler. ❤️
